"The United Nations (UN) established the Convention to Combat Transnational Organized Crime in June of 2000 which included a protocol to: Prevent, Suppress, and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children. The Protocol reflected a recognition by the international community that human trafficking is a serious international problem that requires focused and integrated global law enforcement strategies. This study examines Canada’s compliance with the specific victim protection provisions contained in the Trafficking Protocol."--Page ii.
