Enabling modern HR and people management
Proposed Response:
- The RCMP developed and is rolling out a new RCMP People Management Strategy that will modernize its human resources functions to enable diversity, innovation and promote a culture of respect and inclusion. The Strategy was released in the fall of 2020.
- The People Strategy was developed in consultation with external experts who worked with the RCMP to identify priority areas in need of reform and to establish a change approach to achieve modern, efficient and effective human resources processes.
- The RCMP’s human resources functions are undergoing an end-to-end review, that will strongly focus on anti-racism, equity, diversity and inclusion. Consideration for needs and perspectives of diverse groups of people are a focus, to ensure appropriate supports are available for all employees.
Background:
To support Vision 150, a new, agile approach to HR and People Management, the People Strategy, was approved by senior management in fall 2020.
The RCMP’s new HR Vision will take an agile approach to HR management that builds trust in the organization by promoting a highly skilled, diverse, dynamic and engaged workforce with modern leadership which is representative of the communities it serves, cultivates a culture of respect and inclusion and encourages innovation and intelligent risk taking.
The People Strategy carries twenty-six (26) projects that fall under four (4) streams of work:
- Plan for a modern workforce
- Build a modern HR Management framework
- Develop modern HR practices, programs, processes and technology
- Deliver results and monitor progress for ongoing work
