Communications Interoperability
Effective and interoperable communications are essential to coordinated emergency management and public safety operations across Canada. Emergency responders and emergency management partners rely on the ability to communicate, exchange information and coordinate activities across jurisdictions and organizations during both routine operations and emergency events.
The Emergency Management Strategy for Canada recognizes the importance of enhancing disaster response capacity and coordination among emergency management partners. As part of this priority, the Strategy supports the development of interoperable emergency management systems, public safety communications, and public alerting capabilities to strengthen preparedness and response efforts across jurisdictions.
Public Safety Broadband Network
The Government of Canada is engaging diverse stakeholders and producing evidence-based analysis on implementation models for a potential Public Safety Broadband Network (PSBN).
