Charlottetown Police Services (CPS), together with Summerside Police Services, has a partnership agreement with Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) ‘L’ Division, through a memorandum of understanding, to share three Charlottetown Police Services members with the provincial ‘L’ Division Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).
Currently, two CPS members form part of the divisional CIRT team. This team resource responds to critical incidents where a negotiator presence in required. The agreement provides for training and deployment of resources, provides costs savings in terms of training/deployment and provides a resource that, from an RCMP perspective, is not subject to transfer.
