Ottawa – March 6, 2012 – The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, and the Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence and Member of Parliament for Vaughan, today made the following statement after the apprehension of Lorenzo Salvador Cid Guerra, who was featured on the "Wanted by the CBSA" list.

"The apprehension of this individual, inadmissible on the grounds of organized criminality, clearly demonstrates our government's ongoing commitment to protecting Canadians and the safety of our communities. Canada will not be a haven for those who try to enter or live here illegally, who have broken the law and have endangered the safety of our citizens. We commend the Toronto Police Service for their work in apprehending this individual and thank Canadians for their ongoing support of our efforts to find individuals who are hiding in Canada. The Government of Canada remains committed to identifying, detaining and removing those individuals who pose a threat to the safety and security risk to Canada."
