National Crime Prevention Strategy (NCPS)
What is the NCPS
The National Crime Prevention Strategy (NCPS) is the policy framework for the implementation of crime prevention interventions in Canada and provides funding to strategically selected projects that contribute to preventing and reducing crime in Canada and to increasing knowledge about what works in crime prevention.
Who can apply
The following classes of recipients are eligible in support of the objectives of the NCPS:
- Community or professional organizations, societies and associations which have voluntarily associated themselves for a not-for-profit purpose, and which have the mandate to represent their membership or community;
- Northern and Indigenous communities and governments, and not-for profit organizations (on and off-reserve, First Nation, non-status, Indian, Métis, Inuit and urban);

Government departments as defined in section 2 of the Financial Administration Act (including the RCMP), federal Crown corporations, for-profit groups and individuals are not eligible for funding under the NCPS 2024 Call.
Call priorities for 2024
The Call for applications will support community-led direct interventions tailored to at-risk and vulnerable youth, particularly Indigenous and racialized youth, youth at-risk of committing violence, and youth with repeat contacts with the criminal justice system.
Specifically, funding will be focused on initiatives aimed at reducing the harmful factors that lead youth to get involved in violent criminal activity, such as gun violence and auto theft.
In addition, an estimated 3% of total funding will be designated for initiatives focused preventing bullying and cyber bullying. Further, an estimated 2% will focus on strengthening community readiness for Indigenous populations.
