This project aims to reduce community crime and enhance the safety of First Nation Communities through the development of an integrative approach to community safety. The project will contribute to this goal by mobilizing the RCMP detachments who provide service to First Nations Communities, the Unama'ki Institute of Natural Resources, First Nations Help Desk, Vancouver Police Department, First Nations community citizens, school boards, staff and students in an effort to strengthen partnerships, knowledge and capacity relating to crime and victimization and Aboriginal policing. As well, this project will investigate the risk factors which seem to put First Nations members, particularly their youth, in positions of coming into conflict with the law and allow for healthy communication about finding solutions to reduce the likelihood of it continuing.. |
