Purpose : This project aims to address some of the root causes of criminality and victimization within poor, disadvantaged neighbourhoods through social development approaches meant to increase the resiliency of children. The project will contribute to this goal by mobilizing university athletes, inner city tenants associations and their children, and Family SOS in an effort to enhance the academic performance skills of disadvantage children and youth while changing their attitudes and approach to the subject of education. These objectives will be achieved through the incorporation of academic tutoring to be provided by Saint Mary's university students and staff as well as mentoring which will include positive encouragement to solve problems peacefully and thoughtfully. The tutoring will include the parents being involved in the session as well. In kind support from Mulgrave Park Tenants Association, Greystone Tenants Association, Family SOS and the sponsor will complement CPAF funds.
