Purpose : |
The Cross Lake Army Cadet Corps program will target a total of 100 Aboriginal youth, males and females, between the ages of 12-18, over three years. Year one will include 75 Cadets, increasing to 100 in years two and three. The Cross Lake Cadet Corps project will provide a positive alternative to gang involvement, substance abuse, and other delinquent behaviours by encouraging the development of positive lifestyle habits through structured activities. The Canadian Forces Army Cadet Corps in Cross Lake has typically involved drill and marching activities, as well as instruction in outdoor survival skills, and will be enhanced by the addition of components shown to be linked to the prevention and reduction of delinquent behaviour. |
