Purpose : |
This project consists of the replication of a model crime prevention program, Stop Now and Plan® (SNAP®), in two Cree communities: Mistissini and Waswanipi. The primary target groups for this project are children (boys and girls) aged 6 to 11 years old who display aggressive or anti-social behaviour and who are at risk of police contact. A secondary target group are the parents/caregivers and siblings of these children.
Project activities will address risk factors faced by both youth and their families, and aim to increase families’ capacity to improve their children’s behaviours and skill set. By doing so, positive relationships will be built between parents and children, communication skills developed, youth academic performance improved and antisocial and criminal behaviours reduced.
