Purpose : The goal of this project is to introduce a promising program in the Lanaudière region that provides differential intervention to 120 to 180 children aged 6 to 12 with demonstrated behavioural problems from the first years of school and to their families, which are considered to be at risk because of their difficult situation. The main objective of the “differential intervention in partnership” program is to provide differential intervention tailored to the specific needs of troubled children in order to reduce the risk of exacerbating behavioural problems that may lead to delinquency and crime. The intervention is based on recommendations from many previous works on negligence and behavioural problems, and is based on practices recognized for their effectiveness. The “differential intervention in partnership” program uses mainly cognitive behavioural interventions promoted for their effectiveness in various promising model programs, particularly in multi-systemic therapy and violence prevention programs such as Fast Track.
