Purpose : |
The Home Front Society for the Prevention of Domestic Violence will implement Oskâyi Kiskinotahn, an innovative intervention designed to alter both the offending trajectory of Aboriginal children and that of their parents, who are at high risk of initiating violent behaviours and engaging in a criminal lifestyle.
Oskâyi Kiskinotahn is an intensive two-pronged approach that addresses the cycle of violence in aboriginal families. One component provides group programming, supplemented by access to counselling and addictions treatment for parents. A second component is directed at the children whose social, emotional, physiological and cognitive development can be affected by exposure to violence at home.
