Purpose : |
The Botvin Life-Skills Training (LST) model is a school based program that teaches social resistance skills (drugs and violence), general social skills and personal self-management skills to youth in middle school / junior high. The Parent Program enhances parenting skills that reduce substance use by reinforcing the competencies learned in the LST program for youth.
This project will be implemented within a school, after school hours, the curriculum will be taught once every two weeks and will take into account the learning styles and level of reading skills of the Aboriginal youth participants and the interventions will include many cultural and recreational activities (in order to accommodate traditional Aboriginal teachings and activities).
