Purpose : |
On the Right Path offers a comprehensive and long-term approach to addressing the pressing issue of youth delinquency and gang involvement in west-end Ottawa communities. The project design has been developed to emulate the best practice Pathways to EducationTM program and to build capacity to implement the full Pathways model within the next three years.
The program will provide academic, social, financial and advocacy supports to enhance protective factors in high risk youth. The project On the Right Path will allow the organization, through their strong partnership with Pathways Canada, to work toward the development and implementation of a long-term and sustainable strategy to address youth delinquency and criminal involvement on an ongoing basis.
On the Right Path is distinct from other core services in that it will bring together diverse stakeholders (including parents, community leaders and service providers in the field of education, criminal justice and social services) to focus specifically on developing and implementing a comprehensive, multi-faceted and best practice approach to addressing youth delinquency and criminal involvement.
Using the Pathways model, the organization will integrate additional supports in the form of community-based workshops and training for youth and families, designed to reinforce and enhance the project's goals of increased protective factors and decreased risk factors, resulting in youth making positive life choices including high school completion and avoidance of crime and gang involvement.
