Purpose : The project will be based on the Wraparound Milwaukee model. Wraparound Milwaukee is a unique system of care for children with serious emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs and their families. The model focuses on strength-based, individualized care through the delivery of a comprehensive and flexible array of services to delinquent youth and their families. Wraparound Milwaukee has been in existence since 1995 and evaluation results show that participants demonstrated significant improvements in the home, school, and community environments, while also demonstrating significant reductions in rates of recidivism. Wraparound Surrey will be adapted to fit the unique context of youth gangs in the community. The City of Surrey is home to a diverse ethnic population and so the Wraparound model will be adapted to ensure it is culturally competent and that ethnic affiliation is taken into account when assessing risk and protective factors, as well as developing plans of care.
