Purpose : |
The project targets children and youth aged 11-18 in the District 2 policing catchment area who are involved in or at-risk of involvement in auto-related crime. The first priority will remain focused on youth currently involved in auto-crime and/or other negative offending behaviour and then those youth at-risk of participating in motor vehicle theft or joy riding as a secondary group. These targeted youth will be incorporated into the project as part of a larger balanced peer group made up of non-offenders. This latter group will be given a 3 day training course on peer mentorship, and will act as mentors or buddies and role models for each of the targeted participants. Youth involved in other offending behaviours outlined earlier will also be included in targeted group.
