This project focuses on youth, in grades 6 through 8, who are attending a Surrey elementary or high school and are facing a first-time suspension for aggressive/violent behaviours and/or use of/association with drugs or alcohol. These students will be required to attend the project and will serve their suspension time in a supported and supervised atmosphere designed to increase each student's personal, educational, and social awareness. It will offer an immediate, decisive response to undesirable behaviour. The project will address the underlying risk factors associated with the behaviour, using a therapeutic and holistic approach focusing on leadership, mentorship, and restoration of self and community. Individual assessment and intervention with each participant will occur to determine how best to meet their unique needs.
