The project Caring Dads - Development and Implementation of a Northern Model will implement the existing Caring Dads model and evaluate the program as it pertains to Northern Communities, and then refine the model to support their local needs. The curriculum will be specific to the communities that are within the Thunder Bay District, and include an Aboriginal component inclusive of Aboriginal culture. This 17 week program will involve a two-hour intervention session each week where fathers are provided with the sensitization and skill development training necessary to assist them in abstaining from abusive behaviour, support them in developing positive relationships with their children, and increase parental cooperation and problem solving around childcare issues.
