The project will also focus on inter-generational conflict, specifically between youth and their parents.
A Project Management Committee (PMC) will be responsible for providing four information sessions across the city to recruit potential volunteers and participants. This will be followed by a recruitment drive involving parents, schools, communities, etc., in which 60 Somali youth per year will be selected, and facilitated in their participation in the Peace Builders Program. The program includes six peace promoting modules, including: Introduction to Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, Peer Helping, Cross Culture Conflict Resolution, Mediation, and Facilitation. The program is designed to empower youth by providing them with all of the tools and skills needed to assist them in dealing with peer pressure and conflict-oriented situations.
