This project will develop a 60 minute film that gives young people, ages 10-15, concrete ideas and realistic strategies to deal with difficult situations and gang involvement in their lives. The film, along with a curriculum component will be distributed to schools, RCMP detachments and youth organizations across Canada. The purpose of such a film is to address poor problem solving skills and family conflict that may lead to gang membership for at-risk youth.
The target population for the video is youth at-risk of gang involvement. RCMP detachments have already shown interest in using the tool as part of their teaching. Integrating this kind of teaching into the RCMP and school boards will assist in decreasing gang involvement among high-risk youth. |
