The project will develop a research report on the current state of and future prospects for airport security in Canada and to organize a research symposium on the subject. The report will review current research, technical and public policy literatures on airport security and will examine recent trends and initiatives around the world. Subjects to be covered in the report will include issues related to airport security design, governance, performance, financing and policy and will outline knowledge gaps and questions requiring more research. The research symposium will gather expert presenters from academia, private industry and government to discuss airport security and will generate a minimum of eight research papers on the subject which will be published on the symposium website.
