"This report updates previous cost of crime research undertaken for the Australian Institute of Criminology in 1992 and 1997 by John Walker, in 2003 by Pat Mayhew and in 2008 by Kiah Rollings. Data were obtained not only from the many published sources referred to, but also from a number of unpublished agency and organisational datasets. ... This report estimates the costs of crime for the calendar year 2011, but includes some data in relation to the financial year 2011–12, where 2011 calendar year data were unavailable. All other information is current at 30 June 2013 unless otherwise indicated."--Page ii.
