Summary
This paper examines whether a
police initiative that involved a large increase in the number of stop and searches
was effective at reducing crime.
Nine measures of police recorded crime were used in the analysis. These included: different types of assault involving sharp instruments; robbery; weapons and drugs possession offences; and three types of acquisitive crime.
