Summary

"In 2005, the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness heard conflicting testimony on the performance of the Forensic Laboratory Services. The Committee subsequently asked the Auditor General of Canada to audit the performance of the FLS, and the status of DNA cases and service requests. We examined the timeliness of service delivery by the FLS, the quality management system, consultation with clients, and performance reporting to Parliament. We did not audit the quality of the forensic science and offer no opinion, positive or negative, on the validity of scientific analysis used."--Page 1.
