This Guide was produced as the result of an agreement between the International Centre for the Prevention of Crime (ICPC), the World Bank and the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce. It is based on a preliminary study of the situation in Latin America undertaken during the first half of 2010 by Brazil´s Instituto Sou da Paz and the World Bank.

Summary

This publication is a practical guide that demonstrates how companies can engage in community safety. This guide is designed to help companies gain a better understanding of the importance of community safety and the role that the private sector can play in it, mobilize the right partners and identify ways of engagement to work on initiatives to improve community safety. Finally, it intends to inspire these companies by presenting promising actions that have been implemented throughout the world.
