Purpose : |
This project aims to implement the Strengthening Families Program in Montreal’s English-speaking Black community.
The program is based on three proven approaches: (1) behaviour modification training for parents (cognitive-behavioural approach), (2) family skills development training, and (3) family therapy (structural, functional or behavioural family therapy).
The 200 children targeted by this project are 7 to 13 years old and have externalized issues; in other words, they present violent behaviours, delinquency, early use or abuse of psychoactive substances, or signs of behavioural disorders (signs of oppositional disorders, hyperactivity/attention deficit disorders or behavioural disorders).
