The Ooskahtisuk Club project will target approximately 242 First Nation youth, ages 5-14 years, in order to prevent and reduce substance abuse, drug-related crime and interpersonal violence. This crime prevention project will use two model programs, Families and Schools Together as well as Project Venture, and will be supported by cultural and recreational activities. The Ooskahtisuk Club project will include cultural and recreational components utilizing Elders and other respected community members while still maintaining the integrity of Project Venture and Families and Schools Together programs. It will also incorporate a holistic approach to strengthen cultural attributes that reflect the Cree worldview. |
