This project is a replication of a priority model or promising program. The Stop Now and Plan® model program is a Canadian-based, internationally recognized program for dealing with aggressive children between the ages of 6 and 12 who are at risk of future criminal involvement.
Stop Now and Plan® employs a cognitive behavioural approach to help at-risk children decrease anger, aggression, and antisocial and impulsive behaviour. It targets boys (through the Stop Now and Plan® Under 12 Outreach Project) and girls (through the Stop Now and Plan® Girls Connection) aged 6 – 12 who have come into contact or are at risk of coming into contact with the police and display early signs of antisocial or aggressive behaviour. Additionally, a Stop Now and Plan® Parenting component of the program targets the parents of these children.
