Purpose : |
As of the first year, the applicant intends to open a service point and receive 80-120 young people suspended from Basse-Ville-Limoilou-Vanier schools. Another service point will be opened in the second year, enabling assistance to over 200 young people per year. The three-to-five-day program is composed of the following activities: personal development workshops (anger management, personal organization, reaction to authority, etc.); help with homework and remedial teaching; daily communication with the young participants' parents; return to school accompanied by a worker; individual follow-up meeting with the young person one month after the stay; follow-up meeting with school staff and parents. In addition to the regular activities, there will be educational visits and training in companies specially intended for participants who are deeply unmotivated for school.
The work plan submitted includes activities related to selecting, training and supporting local coordination. This coordination will implement a local multidisciplinary committee to ensure a follow-up of the program as well as its continuity. The plan describes all activities related to delivery of the program itself and to the development, with an outside assessment firm, of tools for a long-term follow-up among young people who participated in the program.
A multidisciplinary committee, composed of people representing the department of education, school board, health and social services centre, youth organizations, and secondary schools served, will be in charge of the project's follow-up.
