Purpose : |
The project implementation phase plans to build capacity and coordinate communication, information sharing, and increase neighborhood and community planning to address community crime issues. The project will engage victim services, rural crime watch networks, the community solutions committee working to reduce substance abuse, First Nations wellness centers, Band police and RCMP members to share the research and crime statistics analysis and mobilize community members to action plans. Supervised by the Steering committee and located in the RCMP detachment, the capacity building coordinator will engage citizens to implement arrange of suggested solutions to reduce crime. Solutions include education, neighborhood watch models, increased enforcement, shelters and emergency food security, community support for positive engagement and mentoring that targets young people and adults at risk of offending and victimization.
